If you have been thinking about getting involved with climate action but are not sure how to start . . . OR if you are hoping to start or rebuild a local chapter but need some help . . . this Open House is for you!
Saturday, March 15, 11 a.m. PT, 12 p.m. MT, 1 p.m. CT, 2 p.m. ET
XR US Open Houses, a one-hour online meeting in every odd-numbered month, are for people new to Extinction Rebellion or looking to start or rebuild a local chapter.
Our New Activist Open Houses have four main features:
Brief overview of Extinction Rebellion and some of the things that distinguish XR as a climate action movement: our demands and principles, our commitment to both local action and global connectedness, our determination to appeal to both science and human feeling, and our emphasis on mass non-violent civil disobedience and direct action.
Introduction to Non-Violent Direct Action principles, practices, strategies, tactics, and successes; and opportunities to share NVDA ideas with other new and experienced climate activists from around the country.
An introduction to our new Coast-to-Coast chapter for activists who don't have a local chapter to join or because of geography, mobility, or other reasons cannot attend local XR activities. As with any other chapter, members of the Coast-to-Coast will propose and carry out actions; be eligible to join an XRUS working group, and going forward we hope will strengthen national communication, collaboration, and solidarity.
An opportunity for an individual follow-up meeting with a member of XRUS to get your questions answered, share your goals as a climate activist, and discuss ways that you can meet those goals.
